The crow's nest is the top-level platform of a ship's highest mast, the place where unruly sailors used to be banned to for punishment. In rough weathers and on an old sailing ship, this truly was a punishment, as even a seasoned sailor would be getting miserably cold and sea sick. In nice weather and calm seas, however, this is a truly peaceful place, away from the noise and the smells of the diesel engines with a great view and a stiff breeze in your face.
